Genesis and MicroStar Mission

On September 8th, 2004 the MicroStar mount was called to duty to support a small part of the Hyperseed mission (http://reentry.arc.nasa.gov/index.html), aboard NASA's airborne observatory.  The mission entailed the observation and recording with multiple instruments of the re-entry of the Genesis mission sample capsule return to Earth (http://genesismission.jpl.nasa.gov/), as well as 2 other future missions, Stardust and Hyabusa in Jan,06 and June, 07.  The MicroStar was responsible for supporting an Orion 127 Maksutov fitted with a CCD camera, spectrograph instruments, and a digital video camera.  Although the primary Genesis mission was almost a total loss due to a parachute failure, the solar wind samples were not totally destroyed and scientists have reported that many scientific goals will still be achieved with undamaged samples that were recovered.  We look forward to future reports of the viable info and research that is yet to come concerning these extraordinary missions.
